Faith Formation is a vibrant space of learning between our worship time, where all ages come together to continue our faith formation as disciples of Jesus Christ. Often this is based from our lectionary readings used in worship on Sunday mornings. When Lord of Life built Grace Place, its purpose was for education with our congregation and the greater community. Grace Place is often full and used in ways we did not dream of in the planning. After completion we noticed a need for a change in how we approached Sunday School. We kept parts that were working quite well for our church but decided to focus on the meaningfulness of the Bible in our lives, the lifelong formation of the faithful, how the lectionary is relevant in our lives today and various needs of our congregation to be spiritually fed. These are bold steps! We decided to change the language from Sunday School to Faith Formation because we feel this more accurately reflects what we are doing on a Sunday morning at this time. We recognize that faith formation happen inside and outside of this time. It is in fact our life long call.
Our Faith Formation hour is fluid on purpose. It allows ownership of the classes by the participants. As a staff we work hard to offer classes that are relevant to the lectionary each Sunday while bringing in new and fresh ideas.
Current Offerings
Sunday Morning Faith Formation, from 9:00-9:45 a.m. There are classes for all ages. On a break for the Summer, will be back in the fall!
Our 2026/27 Faith Formation year will be based around Sowing Seeds of Faith. There will be classes held each week for all ages. They are split up based on activity level rather than age groups. Our Seeds group will focus on hands on learning around a biblical or theological theme. Blooms focus on harder topics and engage in discussion and dialogue. Lastly our Sprouts group will be a middle ground of hands on learning and intellectual discussions. We encourage you to explore these different groups each week. One week you might be interested in joining the Seeds group, the next week you might want to engage with the Blooms. Listen to where your heart is calling and explore your faith, its time to flourish our faith.
Lesson Options for Segment 1 (Sept. 27th – Oct. 25th)
Seeds: Join Carol Moser in creating beautiful pressed flower creations. Participants will engage with ideas of how to love our neighbors while also loving ourselves.
Sprouts: Join Molly Stavanger in sculpting stories in the Old Testament. Participants will listen to a new Old Testament story each week and sculpt with clay what is standing out.
Blooms: Join Pastor Kirsten in a study series around Imago Dei and how our neighbors embody that. Participants will engage in a thoughtful study and asked to reflect on what comes up.
